M.A.D. MAD About Drowning To Launch Project to Educate Adults About Water Safety And Pass On Their Knowledge To Young People

A NEW Project will be launched on the 8 Year Anniversary of my son Christopher’s Drowning at Capel Curig on 14th August 2006.  It is hoped that with better education adults parents grandparents can then pass on this vital information to their families.  DROWNING is a Global problem – According to Rebecca Wear Robinson – A Child Drowns Every Minute – Most of these are senseless accidents because of lack of knowledge of the dangers of water.  Adults too though need to be educated – mostly the over 18’s mainly men are subject to accidents after alcohol intake and then lose their inhibitions.  River And Sea Sense aim to launch a huge campaign to help educate adults and give them an informed choice they can then pass on this vital information to family members therefore having a ripple effect.  Schools PTS groups are our first target with organised meetings to commence in September 2014 and a National Awareness Campaign will then run throughout the UK.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

Volunteers with Water Safety experience will be required to help launch this initiative County by County across the UK.  RASS are looking for Lifeguards Water Safety Experts Swim Teachers Rookie Lifeguard Trainers and members of the Emergency Services to come on board.

Says Debbie – ” This is a HUGE step forward for RASS but I am CONFIDENT this will be a SUCCESS with the support of professionals in the industry.
