We loved him to bits
Wednesday, August 16, 2006A DEVASTATED family was last night trying to come to terms with the death of their teenage son in a Snowdonia river.
Only child Christopher James David Turnbull, 15, drowned while playing with pals at Pont Cyfyng Falls.
The group of seven friends travelled by train and bus to the beauty spot near Capel Curig on Monday.
They were playing on the rocks when tragedy struck. Christopher, from Rhos on Sea, was swept under the waterfall at around 12.30pm and vanished under the torrent.
One of his best friends, Reece McNally, jumped into the fast-flowing waters of the Llugwy river in a desperate bid to save Eirias High pupil Christopher.
The boy’s body was recovered by police divers just after 7pm in deep water downstream of Pont Cyfyng.
Last night his devastated parents John and Debbie described Christopher as a “loving son”.
